SUDESO aims at offering quality services to rural and poor communities in the northern region depending mainly on subsistence farming with very few off-farm IGAs. A lot of farmers in Mzimba district have livestock which is kept for prestige, therefore introduction of biogas plants would be the solution to many environmental challenges in the area and act as a learning tool. Hence, SUDESO implemented a project titled; Biogas Technologies as a Cooking Facility. The project aimed at providing access to clean energy as an alternative to fuelwood energy by installing a biogas plant on an early child development center in Mzimba district of Malawi. The installed biogas is expected to cut short the time women spend collecting firewood for energy and will further decrease the carbon footprint of Emvuyeni area.
